Sending medicines to family abroad is one of the most common requests we handle — and one where paperwork matters most.

What you need

• A valid prescription in the patient's name, dated within the last few months
• A doctor's letter stating the condition and the required dosage
• The pharmacy invoice for the medicines being sent
• Medicines in their original sealed packaging

What to avoid

Narcotic and psychotropic formulations cannot be couriered, and quantities should match the prescription — typically up to a 90-day supply. Loose strips without packaging are usually held at customs.

1. Double-box valuable items

Wrap the item, place it in a snug inner box, then float that box inside a larger one with 5 cm of cushioning all around.

2. Wrap pieces individually

Glasses and ceramics should never touch each other. Each piece gets its own bubble wrap, and hollow items get padding inside them too.

3. Fill every gap

Loose space is what breaks things. Fill voids with crumpled paper or foam so nothing shifts when the box is turned upside down — because it will be.

4. Seal like you mean it

Use proper packing tape along every seam and edge, not household cello tape.

5. Label it — but don't rely on the label

"Fragile" stickers help, but good packing is the real protection. If you'd rather not gamble, bring it to us — professional packing is included in our service.

The same shipment can cost wildly different amounts depending on how you send it. The right choice mostly comes down to weight and urgency.

Under 30 kg: courier

For documents, parcels and small boxes, express courier is almost always right — door-to-door in 2–7 days, full tracking, customs handled.

30–100 kg: air cargo

Once you cross ~30 kg, air cargo rates per kg drop well below courier rates. You trade a little speed and convenience for meaningful savings.

Over 100 kg, not urgent: sea cargo

For household moves and commercial consignments, sea freight costs a fraction of air — if you can wait 4–8 weeks.

• Sender's KYC — Aadhaar, passport or PAN

Book by the festival-minus-ten rule

For USA, Canada, UK and Australia, book at least 10 days before the festival. Gulf countries need 5–7 days. Courier networks get busy in festive weeks, so earlier is safer.

What ships well

Rakhis, dry fruits, packaged sweets (sealed, branded), clothes and gift items all travel well. Homemade sweets with high moisture don't — they spoil in transit and can be stopped at customs.
